Fern Friend--cropped frock coat with quilt square pockets and fern/botanical print accents.
Inspired by the utility of the chore coat and artist's smock, I wanted to design something that could be worn as a lightweight and breezy layer that comes with a lot of personality AND large pockets for utility.
With its button closure focused at the bodice, this jacket is left open at the waist and hips for easy sizing regardless of your outfit underneath. I love the vintage feel of this cut, especially paired with its quilted lapel collar and colorblock shoulders.
Its sleeves are cut wide and straight for easy layering, easy air-flow, and easy roll-up cuffs.
Generous pockets feature handmade quilt-squares with some of my favorite fabrics.
(Herringbone, yes always. Campfire toasted marshmallow on a stick? Yes!)
All quilt squares are made by me, one-at-a-time, so please allow some variation to the pattern orientation of each fabric --though any variation will be subtle, if at all. (I will be sure to use the same exact fabrics and placement unless you've requested customization.)
I can also use custom fabrics if you have any elements you would like to send me to work into the pocket squares! Just send a convo and I can confirm where/how to send your fabric along.

The rest of this jacket is made from a light ash grey woven fabric--I have been holding onto this deadstock fabric for over a decade (truly!!) so I regret to say that I do not know the exact fabric content. It is woven to have a textured linen look, with the same breathable/airy quality, but since it is very hard to wrinkle I believe it can not be a true 100% cotton linen. My guess is that it is a cotton/rayon/poly blend. It launders quite easily and has a soft and natural drape. (If you have any concerns about this mystery fabric and would like for me to mail a small swatch of it along, please just reach out!)
All other fabrics are 100% cotton, and this coat is professionally finished with a binded hem.
