Reversible sweater cardigan, cowgirls and rock n roll.

$265.00

A completely reversible sweater cardigan with pockets, made in all sizes and inspired by Nudie Cohn--the Rhinestone Cowboy King.

Nudie Cohn was known for his notable DIY career in the garment industry and his flamboyant style & love for colors, vibrant imagery, and rhinestones. This little sweater coat is a sweet homage to a legend, within a stylish and versatile cropped coat. It has pockets, it has a country western feel with a rockabilly edge, it's two cardigans in one by golly!

One side features a golden marigold pointelle sweater knit, paired with hand-cut flower silhouettes stitched along the shoulders. Its two side pockets are finished with an ivory thermal knit with dainty flowers of yellow, red, and orange colors. This same knit is showcased on its curved Peter Pan collar. The back features black horizontal lines across the shoulders, also stitched and appliquéd from soft black fleece.

The opposing side is made from a black/ivory grid bouclé knit with subtle lurex threads woven throughout for a little bit of sparkle, for Nudie's love of rhinestones. The front shoulders feature sweeping black lines that meet at the center of the back in sharp points, appliquéd and sewn on top from hand cut shapes. On this side, the collar is solid black to match the black bias tape sewn along the outer seams. The pockets are finished with the same marigold knit as used on the other side--that makes 4 pockets total on this coat!

This cropped sweater cardigan closes with durable brass snaps, and all seams are either hidden or covered to make this garment completely reversible. Made in all sizes XS-5XL. Find my sizing chart here: https://sewmoe.com/sizing

Nudie Cohn dressed the stars and anyone who was willing to make a bold statement. (Including Gram Parsons, Dolly Parton, Elton John, ZZ Top, the Beatles...just to name a few) He was known for his grand flamboyant style that went well beyond clothes, though he was best known for his trademark Nudie Suit. To read more about the legend himself visit this blog, which I feel really sums up the charm: https://www.messynessychic.com/2015/05/14/the-rhinestone-cowboy-king-a-retrospective-of-dolly-partons-favourite-tailor/

"From pauper to the prince of glitz, Nudie’s suits pretty much embody fight for the American dream. It’s as if each rhinestone makes up for every minute spent struggling and hustling. And then all the extras are just a middle finger for the haters."
