One of a kind--full length crushed velvet dress in navy blue (leaning towards a purple hue), paired with a soft grey crochet sweater-knit fabric. The combination is both luxe and lavish, a delight to the eyes and also to the tactile touch.

While I can't say velvet is my favorite to sew with (it is somehow both slippery and stubborn) the end result always feels so regal and elegant to me!

Constructed with half sleeves, this dress features a double breasted bodice that is meant to be worn both buttoned up, or draped open--depending on your preference in style. Fully buttoned up, the bodice provides a tighter jewel neckline with a cowl accent in the front. As it is unbuttoned, the cowl opens to reveal a square front inlay of velvet. When opened fully, this outside layer drapes beautifully across the shoulder--hinting at the silhouette of wearing a knitted shawl.

The dress itself is very stretchy and designed to be easy to wear. It features short sleeves, and would also pair wonderfully with a cropped cardigan or shawl. It would even pair well being worn over a pair of fitted sleeves/warm under-layer.

The skirt of this dress is a full length of 38.5" (measured from dress-waist to the bottom hem of dress). Two functional pockets are built into the sides of this dress, accented with a decorative button flap.

The crushed velvet fabric used is both lightweight and surprisingly breathable--I would consider the overall weight of this dress to be light-to-midweight. If the skirt were not so full, it would be semi transparent--but due to the fullness of its drape and the amount of yardage used the skirt is not transparent.

(The bodice itself is lined, and double layered in the front so it is substantial and completely opaque) The thinness of the fabric is worth a mention mostly in terms of seasonality--In colder seasons you would likely want to pair this dress with warm leggings or thick tights, full slip, etc. It is not a very heavy or thick velvet.

I made this dress in an effort to go through some of my hoarded fabrics, so it can not be made again. A true gem and rare beauty!

Made in size Medium, it will also fit a Small if you would like to wear it loose and belted. Due to the stretch of this fabric, it will also fit a Large at the smaller end of its range. (Sizing chart provided below, and please reach out if you have any questions.)
